When Anger Arises, Pause and Reflect
written by Miaoyin (Member of our Global Lotus Family)
What is there to be angry about?
I have already encountered the most precious treasure, the Dharma, and have faith in rebirth in Amitabha’s Pure Land.
Instead of anger, let compassion arise.
There are still many beings who have yet to encounter this path, how can I respond with empathy rather than irritation?
When worry arises, ask yourself:
What is there to worry about?
The greatest matter of life has already been settled. With sincere faith and practice, we are walking toward Amitabha’s Pure Land. What greater peace could there be?
When greed arises, reflect:
What is there to cling to?
In the Pure Land, there are boundless merits, wisdom, and Dharma treasures beyond compare. Why exchange something so vast and pure for fleeting, worldly desires?
Every time an affliction appears, gently remind yourself:
You already possess the most precious jewel.
Return to mindfulness. Return to the name of Amitabha.
Through constant recollection and sincere contemplation, afflictions will gradually loosen their hold.
And if we have the capacity,
let us not keep this treasure to ourselves,
but share it with others, so they too may find peace, joy, and the path forward.
